Reynolds Creek rancher to run for state Senate

Former Owyhee County Treasurer Brenda Richards, who has a long career serving the ranching industry, has decided to seek the Dist. 23 state Senate position from which Bert Brackett will retire in 2020.
Richards, who lives in Reynolds Creek, announced her candidacy for the Republican nomination Thursday. She joins current Dist. 23A Rep. Christy Zito (R-Hammett) as two announced candidates seeking to succeed Brackett.
In remarks to The Owyhee Avalanche when he announced his planned retirement from public office, Brackett had expressed hope that an Owyheean would pick up the mantle to continue representing the county's interests in the Idaho Legislature.
Read the Nov. 27 edition of The Owyhee Avalanche for more on Richards' candidacy.
